Google+ combining features lures people from Facebook

Can there really be too many social networking sites, that was the question being asked after the launch of Google+. The service is now a month old, and from what we have seen it?s a bit of a success. Questions have been asked about how Google will be able to lure people away from Facebook; one reason is by combing features from all its rivals.

We?ve had many different points of view from new users of Google+, along with those who have yet to join. However, we have still been waiting for an in-depth analysis from the experts. Having said that, there is no better expert than you or I, as we are the ones who use the service on a daily basis. Some have admitted that although they have joined, they have not used it much. There are two reasons for this, wanting to accept the invite quickly, and then having the time to study how it all works.

There is an interesting report on ABC News; at first they state the obvious by saying that ?It is not a threat to Facebook yet.? We have discussed on many occasions about the new Circles features, and this is one key feature that stands out during this report. It was when the question was asked about how Google+ could lure Facebook users away that got our interest.

They spoke to a technology analyzer and it is how Google+ combines features from Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn that makes it stand above the rest. The reason for this is because social networking users can often become confused, as they do not know if they should tweet something, put a post on Facebook etc. So as you see things are much simpler all in one place ? although it is not perfect.

Google has learned by its recent mistakes and has now simplified social networking. You have to be invited to Google+, so it feels a little exclusive, but anyone can invite you. To give you an idea at just how popular this new project has become, I was offering invites (view my profile) and by the end of the day I had over 400 emails. It is not hard to see why there are now almost 20 million users already.

The search engine giant should not get too complacent, as Facebook is not likely to sit around and watch Google muscle in on their market share. However, I am reminded to when Buzz crashed and burned, I said that social networking was only a hobby for Google and if they really wanted to put their mind to it then Facebook would not have an answer.
